The Loss of a Dear Friend
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kenneth Arthur, Jr., a proud father, loving husband, engaged community member and Habitat for Humanity San Francisco’s first homeowner. Kenneth was killed on Monday, April 21 near his home in San Francisco.
Kenneth shared his incredible warmth with a crowd of 530 at our Blueprints & Blue Jeans gala last Wednesday night. During the event he so successfully emceed, Kenneth spoke with pride about the joys in his life. He told us how far his family had come since moving into their HHSF home 12 years ago. He spoke about the three sons that he and his wife Angela successfully raised—including Kendall who will be graduating from Fisk University with honors in May. He even invited us all to join him at the graduation in Tennessee!
We will all remember Kenneth for the way he lit up any room with his smile, laughter and his joy for life. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Blueprints & Blue Jeans:
A Gala Celebration for Habitat for Humanity San Francisco
On Wednesday, April 16, 2008, over 530 supporters, volunteers and friends of Habitat for Humanity San Francisco (HHSF) put on their best denim, sipped signature blue martinis, participated in construction contests, and had a ball at the 3rd annual Blueprints & Blue Jeans Gala. The event raised over $300,000 to build homes and hope in San Francisco and Marin Counties.
Entertained by our family partner MC, Ken Arthur, and inspired by our award recipients, the Habitat Humanitarian award winner, Mayor Gavin Newsom and the Mara Feeney Service Award winner, Father Charles Gagan of St. Ignatius Parish, it was an event that was enjoyed by all.
We would like to extend our thank you to our 2008 Blueprints & Blue Jeans chairperson, Bill Morrow, President and CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric Company, for his dedication and support of our cause. We are grateful to all our sponsors for their generosity which is vital to the success of our organization.
Thank you for joining us. Photos from the gala can be seen on our flickr page.
